Committee Information

The committees of the Washington DC Area Florida A&M University Alumni Association are:

  • Program and Strategic Planning - submits annually, a one-year plan and a long-term plan, which outline programs for the success of the Chapter.
  • Fundraising (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) - responsible to plan, develop, recommend and lead programs to increase the Chapter’s funds 
  • Scholarship (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) - is a standing committee with important responsibility to select worthy students in the area for academic scholarships to FAMU. It involves working with high schools in our area to determine scholarship awards for students to attend FAMU.
  • Student Recruitment (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)- is a standing committee and conducts the important responsibility of working with local churches, fraternities and other organizations to recruit students for FAMU. We attend education fairs sponsored by these organizations, set up our FAMU booth, tell the FAMU story to student prospects and hand out literature and information about FAMU. Our objective is to recruit students for FAMU.

  • Bylaws (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)- responsible for developing and recommending for approval the Chapter's policies and procedures and recommending proposed amendments to the Chapter's Constitution and Bylaws.
  • Auditing - is a standing committee to conduct yearly or special audit of the financial records of the DC Chapter. It involves making a critical assessment of all financial records, reporting any discrepancies and making recommendations as appropriate.
  • Communication (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) - promotes the positive image of the Chapter; maintains the Chapter’s website with current information; provides a means to timely publicize all Chapter events and programs; and communicates Chapter and individual members’ newsworthy items to the Chapter, Region, University, and community, as appropriate.
  • Finance - a standing committee that prepares the draft budget for approval, monitors the Chapter's income, expenditures, and allocated funds, and makes recommendations for the Chapter's investment account.
  • Governmental Relations Committee - works to plan, develop, and implement programs to promote the University’s legislative agenda and establish rapport with local public officials to promote the positive image of the University.
  • Rattler Booster - serve as the primary liaison between the Chapter and the University regarding all University athletic matters.
