FAMU NAA WASHINGTON DC CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIPS

ABOUT OUR SCHOLARSHIPS:

In 1998, the chapter named four scholarships for notable FAMU alumni members from the Washington DC Chapter, who have made lasting contributions to the chapter and local communities.

  • David Bryant - The late David Bryant was a charter member with 55 years of active participation at the local, regional and national levels. David is highly respected by his Rattler and professional peers and retains a bounty of awards for a life of meaningful contributions. David Bryant was a long-time government employee and retired from the National Security Agency (NSA).
  • Benjamin Canty - The late Dr. Benjamin Canty is well remembered for his many successes with the music education and training of area youth. It is with delight that many recall the efforts Dr. Canty pursued in preparing our children to perform at annual FAMU Founders Day events.
  • Annie B. Pharr - The late Annie B. Pharr is a chapter ICON. She is recognized and respected for undaunting efforts in the application of effective business practices regarding financial matters. Annie's presence at sponsored events is always noted and thoughts of her persistent spirit remind us to focus on the business at hand.
  • Charles Perry - The late Dr. Perry served as president of the chapter from the beginning and for many successive years. It was through his direction that this chapter retained its focus to continue and expand to its current level of achievement.

2015 Freshman Sendoff

 IMG 3283

On August 8, 2015 we had our annual freshman sendoff. We had five incoming freshmen attend the freshman sendoff as well as a number current students and attend this event along with their parents. We had a tremendous number of alumni from the area come as well to see our students, to give them advice and well wishes, and to help with the freshman sendoff. We received advice from parents and students concerning the freshman sendoff in the future as well as activities throughout the year.
